Terence Stamp was one of my first heroes usually playing masterful film roles. His dramatic style and moody looks led to my creating this portrait, which is one of my earlier stamp portraits. Born in 1939, he was one of the most recognizable faces of 1960s British cinema. During that decade, he became famous on the screen and off, as a leading man and a poster boy for the swinging Sixties lifestyle. He made his film debut in 1962 as the martyred hero in Peter Ustinov’s, Billy Budd, earning him an Oscar nomination and establishing him as part of a new wave of talent in British cinema. The portrait is composed of approximately 3500 British definitive used postage stamps.
