About

I am Pete Mason ‘The Post Pop Art Man‘. I recycle postage stamps to create unique postage stamp images.

I studied Fine Art at Stafford College of Art, Leeds University and gained my master’s degree at Birmingham University. I am known as the Post Pop Art Man as I create images with recycled postage stamps. I am inspired by the Pop Art movement and particularly admire the works of Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. My portraits and images are created by recycling postage stamps into pixelated images to create portraits and designs both figurative and non-representational. I have work owned and commissioned by clients in America, Australia, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal as well as in the UK.

I was commissioned by Whiteley’s Shopping Centre in Bayswater, London, to create a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. This is my largest stamp image and measures 305 cm x 488 cm. It hung in the Central Atrium of the Shopping Centre.

Another large portrait of the Queen was created to celebrate her nine decades as monarch and is made from nine 92 cm square canvases using over 30,00 stamps.

‘The Sergeant Pepper Diptych’ is owned by Ripley’s and has been displayed in several of their ‘Believe It or Not’ attractions worldwide.

A portrait of Grace Jones was featured in the Post Colonial Exhibition at the Stanley Gibbons’ flagship store in the Strand, London.

King Charles III (PRIVATE COLLECTION)

Amongst the work I have created are several portraits of Royal Celebrities, receiving letters of thanks from Buckingham Palace and St. James Palace.

Lord Sugar and his portrait (PRIVATE COLLECTION)
