Dame Esther Rantzen (1940 –2026) will be remembered for her smiling face, her positivity and her energy. She was an English journalist and television presenter memorably presenting the BBC television series That’s Life! She worked with many charitable causes founding Childline, a helpline for children, and The Silver Line, designed to combat loneliness in older people’s lives. She was recognised for her contribution to television and society being appointed an OBE and a CBE before being awarded the title of Dame for her outstanding contributions. Towards the end of her life she worked closely with the campaigning organisation Dignity in Dying.
