Auto Girl is a tribute to Tamara de Lempicka born in Warsaw in 1898. Following the Russian revolution she moved to Paris where she plunged into life in French high society. In the first of the two portraits in tribute to Tamara de Lempicka Pete retained much of the secondary colours of the original. In this portrait however he has used strong primary colours depicting the bright, dashing lifestyle of the nineteen twenties and thirties. Her sultry, even sexy eyes seem to follow her audience as they move in front of her and the swirl of the Parisian lifestyle has been symbolised by the movement of her clothing flowing around within the red Bugatti.
